NFPA Fire Sprinkler Initiative helps stakeholders navigate the code-making and legislative process to get fire sprinkler requirements for new homes passed in their communities. The initiative offers an array of free research, resources, and on-the-ground support that can help sprinkler advocates underscore the life-saving impact of home fire sprinklers. NFPA also assists sprinkler coalitions in convincing the public and their decision makers that sprinklers are needed in homes, where people have the greatest risk of dying from fire. These resources are complemented by NFPA's Fire Sprinkler Initiative blog that disseminate news underscoring the home fire problem and tactics for successful advocacy and sprinkler code adoption.

Home fire sprinklers are a crucial, life-saving technology, since the risk of dying in a reported home fire is 85% lower if sprinklers are present.

During the National Fire Sprinkler Association Virtual Annual Seminar and Business & Leadership Conference in April 2023, Matt Klaus, Director of NFPA’s Technical Services, presented, “NFPA in the Time of COVID-19.” In his presentation, Matt discusses Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) during COVID-19, the new Hanging and Bracing Standard, Mixed Plastic Commodities, the Owners Questionnaire, budgeting for ISTx, and more.

During the National Fire Sprinkler Association Virtual Annual Seminar and Business & Leadership Conference in April 2023, NFPA President and CEO, Jim Pauley spoke about the role fire sprinkler advocacy plays in the Fire & Life Safety Ecosystem, including how supporters can ensure the Ecosystem around home fire safety remains intact.
